About 'Master Steve'

 'Master Steven Lloyd' is a Houston native, and has been an active member of  the  'Leather (SMBD) Community' for 25+ years. 
     
The early years of 'Master Steve's' LEATHER-LIFE were spent in Ft. Lauderdale, where he worked at 'THE FIRST,' of what would become many LEATHER BARS, when a small cafe/bar called "Libations" on N. Andrews Blvd. turned into 
"The STUD." 
     
He was working there when he won his first "service title" of "MR. SLEAZE ALLEY '91," the same week a "Featured Photographic  Layout" of this, 'then fledgling LeatherMAN' by noted photographer Wayne Hampton went to press statewide in the Florida GLBT Publication 'David Magazine.' (see the B&W pic above.)
      
In subsequent years Steve ( ...as this was still "Pre-Master" days ) moved back to South Texas, as his family relocated back at that time. 
     
Originally landing in Galveston, Steve spent time in several volunteer endeavors (along with working in the Food & Beverage Industry) including working as a Client Services Volunteer for the Aids Coaliation of Coastal Texas inc. and, in his crowning achievement on the island, served as the Chairman of the Board of the Community Advisory Board of the Aids Clinical Trials Unit of the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston.  As the chairman of the board, he went to Washington, DC three times, to the "National Aids Clinical Trials Group Conference" ...'taking local concerns to a National level.'   Because of those volunteer achievements he was awarded a full scholarship to The 10th Annual State of Texas HIV/STD Conference in Austin. 
     
After 5 years in Galveston as 'The Lone Leatherman" Steve found "Island Life" repressing for his SadoMasochistic tastes.  
     
It was at that point that he needed to escape. 
     
Moving back to his H-town roots, he landed his first Houston bartending job at what was then "NightHawks" (...of the 'Venture-N' legacy!)  It was in that capacity at NightHawks he was introduced to National Leather Association - Houston. 
     
Steve became a mamber of the local chapter & International for 6 years and continued his growth & education in 'all things LEATHER!'
     
He won the local title "Master of Leather 2003," the honor that qualified him to be Houston's Representative & Contestant at    
       

"INTERNATIONAL MR. LEATHER 2004"

He also won 1st runner-up in the "MR. TEXAS LEATHER 2004" contest that year.

   

    After his year of service as Master of Leather 2003, 'Master Steve' enrolled in

                  

Massage Therapy Training

  at the Phoenix School of Holistic Health (6600 Harwin) in Houston. 

   

   Following graduation and passing

The Similarities Between Massage and The SadoMasochistic Arts

 

 

The significance of 'touch' that's involved with Massage & The SadoMasochistic Arts have remarkably similar characteristics. 
Both are the systematic application of touches and techniques with specific goals in mind (or intents.)  Each, in their own right can be either relaxing or stimulating (according to intent.)  Either may "initially" cause some discomfort &/or pain, but as a means to an end (the intent.)
A Deep Tissue Massage MAY cause temporary pain and discomfort, HOWEVER for effective therapy MAY be necessary, for the increase in blood circulation required to release toxins from the body & to facilitate the movement of trapped energy.
All to promote the repair of damaged muscle tissue.
Likewise some discomfort and pain MAY be associated with the "initial" application of some SM & BD techniques, until the natural endorphins are released (the intent.)

"The SIGNIFICANCE of TOUCH"

     Touch is as old as man.  Touch is even used extensively in the animal kingdom.  Weather with humans or with our animal counterparts, touch can be used to induce pain and/or feelings of caring and love.  Our focus here is to look at the loving, nurturing and caring aspects of touch as it refers to humanity.
Mothers, fathers and other family have used touch  to console, calm and congratulate us since we were first born. 
Looking back on the tender caress's, the warm strokes through our hair and the "ALL ENCOMPASSING hugs & kisses of a lifetime" we can feel the love in the hearts of those touching us.
I find it a natural response to pass the "positive feeling on."
Through our heads we give instructions to our hands to feel the trouble spots.  Where the tension is.  Where life has gotten to our fellow man.  From the heart our concern and affection begins to flow.
Flowing back through the head it's thoughtfully filtered, processed and translated into the care and feelings for the subject.
Energy's natural instinct is to flow.  When we touch someone the energy of life & love starts on it's journey.
It is processed through the gift The Creator gave us (our mind) to apply our tools (our hands) to find and free the blockage causing  the stress in our friend or loved one.
It is automatic, intuitive and natural.
A constant feedback from your heart, through the mind then delivered as a soothing touch.  
The response from the recipient flows back, then is processed and communicated through our head back to our hearts. Thus completing and restarting the process.
The constant flow of energy from one human to another promotes the 'REAEASE OF THE BLOCKAGE' of the natural energy forces within and ALSO helps capture energy around you through "synergy."
You can feel when the dam is broken and the juices start to flow.  Just as when you pet a kitty and they purr or rub your dog and his tail goes wild, PEOPLE TOO will have "positive responses!" 
Memories of the touches and their associated feelings in the past run through their minds.  Encased in the warmth and protection the sole is reborn. 
In the togetherness we realize, THAT WE, as OUR ANCESTORS felt...ARE NOT ALONE. 
The "Spirit of the Universe" is in us.
     It's in OUR HEARTS, it's in OUR HANDS and it's in OUR HEADS!

What did you do before modern medicine when you hurt your arm by hitting it on a tree, when you were running through the woods the day before?  All there was to do...you rub it.
To gently carress the muscle, to soothe the inflamed tissue thus treating the wound is an inborn instinct.
Likewise during the Caveman Days... during the"Dawning of Mankind," when the male of the species felt the "urge" to reproduce and the female was (perhaps) uncooperative the male would take his conquest by the hair AND FORCE THE ACT. 
Not unlike (in appearance) a S&M scene of today.
The difference however, in today's modern scenes.....
